Within any Visual Paradigm products, commands can be invoked by pressing certain keys in the keyboard, as shortcuts. For example, holding down the Ctrl modifier key with the 'S' key invokes the save command. Now, key bindings, which is the assignment of keys to commands, can be customized. This permits you to use the familiar keystroke for invoking commands in VP.
Updating Keys Assignment
| 1. |
Select Tools > Options from the main menu to open the Options dialog where key assignment can be changed. |

| 3. |
Select the name of command we want to assign, or reassign another key. In this example, we are going to assign a key for the action "New Use Case Diagram". |
| 4. |
At the bottom of the dialog, click on the Binding field. Then, press the key for invoking the command selected. In this example, press on the "Ctrl", "Shift" and "1" button on the keyboard together. |
The binding field will be updated accordingly. |
| 5. |
Press OK to confirm the updates. You will be prompted to restart the application in order to make the changes take effect. By restarting, you can invoke commands using the key defined. In this example, Ctrl+Shift+1 is assigned to the command "New Use Case Diagram". Pressing Ctrl+Shift+1 will result in a new Use Case Diagram being created. |
