There is ID property in Business Process elements (such as Task, Sub-process, Gateway) and Requirements. The ID property is unique within the project, and it can be visualized in diagram, export to image and report. The ID can be used for unique identify specific model element. The ID is useful if there are two or more parties want to discuss the design (diagram) over the phone and they only have the printout of diagram on hand. They can communicate with each other by specifying ID of the discussing element (e.g. "please check Requirement ID REQ-1024" is more precise compared to "please check 'Ensure quantity' Requirement"). ID is auto generate when the model element is created. Sometimes, modeler may want to re-assign IDs for some reasons. Select and edit ID of model element one by one is a tedious work.
In VP Suite 4.0 SP1, Visual Paradigm developed edit ID dialog box for editing all model elements ID within one dialog box.
