When creating new requirement model, a unique ID is generated. It is possible to adjust the format of the ID by adding project name, user defined text and number of digits.
The ID of new requirement model is made unique by set to an auto generated number by default. That is, the ID of the first requirement is set to 1, that of the next created requirement set to 2, and so on.
Now you can customize the way the ID is generated by configuring the prefix, suffix and number of digits.
| 1. | Select menu Tools > Options... to open the Options dialog box. |
| 2. | Select Diagramming from the left and then select the Requirement Diagram page. You can see the ID Generator Format options. |

| 3. | You can set the prefix and suffix of the ID by typing in Prefix and Suffix respectively. Click on the drop down button beside the Prefix or Suffix combo box, you will see the {project_name} variable. When generating ID, the generator will substitute this variable with the project name. |

| 4. | The number of digits is not fixed by default, which may generate ID of different length. If you want to fix the number of digits (e.g. 001 instead of 1), select the desired number in Num of digits. |

| 5. | Let's see how it works. Say we want to generate ID which begins with project name, followed by "_req", with fixed number of digits of 3, and the whole ID will be enclosed by square brackets. Then we need to configure the ID generator format as shown below. |
| 6. | Create a requirement shape, you can see the generated ID followed the configured options. |

| Note that the ID generator format applies to new requirements only, the IDs of existing requirements will not be changed. | |
