1. Usability does matter

   As a lot of people still claim that modeling with pencil and paper is better than using modeling tool because the latter is harder to use, Visual Paradigm has invested a lot of resources to improve the usability of Agilian. Visual Paradigm believes that quality software is not just about feature-rich but easy to use. All Visual Paradigm products are designed and developed with usability in mind. Agilian not just focus on how many diagrams you can draw but how easy you can create, modify and layout them. There are various diagramming toolsets like resource-centric interface, sweeper, magnet, pinnable connector and more, which help increase the efficiency of system analysis and design significantly.

2. Business process modeling

   Agilian fully supports the latest version of BPMN standard. Business analysts can visualize as-is and to-be processes using business process diagrams.

3. UML modeling

   Agilian fully supports UML 2.2 specification. Use case can be elaborated by sequence diagram or activity diagram. Structural layer of the system can be designed and documented in class diagram, composite structure diagram and object diagram. Sequence diagram, communication diagram, state diagram and activity diagram are designed for behavioral modeling. System deployment architecture can be documented by component and deployment diagrams.

4. Use Case modeling

   Agilian provides various use case modeling toolsets for analyst to identify, document and manage users' goal. UML use case diagram can be used to visualize actors, use cases and their relationships. Use case details editor lets analyst to document use case description, flow of events, pre and post condition. Both use case diagram and use case details editor information are grouped when generating use case documentation.

5. Documentation generation

   Agilian generates documentation in MS Word 2007, PDF and HTML format. There are various options to control and customize the generated documentations. You may also develop your own documentation by using report writer[1].

6. Team collaboration

   Agilian talks to VP Teamwork Server, Subversion, CVS and Perforce to provide a collaborative modeling platform. With the team collaboration features, team members can view and edit the same project or even same diagram simultaneously. All changes will be stored in the above servers in revision basis.

7. Plug-in architecture

   Agilian plug-in architecture provides an extendable platform for developers to add functions to Agilian. Developers can reference to the plug-in development guide to build their own plug-in to read, update, retrieve and delete diagrams and model elements.
