Creating a RACI chart for business process
The Responsible, Accountable, Consult and Inform Chart (RACI chart) is used for clarifying activities and roles in business process. Business Process Visual ARCHITECT (BP-VA) 4.1 introduced Chart Diagram, in which you can use its built-in template to create RACI chart. In this tutorial, we'll demonstrate how to create a RACI chart for a business process using Chart Diagram.
- Download Repair Plan.vpp from this tutorial beforehand and open the project with BP-VA.
- We'll create a RACI chart based on the following business process diagram, Product Repair:

- Right click on Chart Diagram on Diagram Navigator and select New Chart Diagram from the pop-up menu.

- Name the chart diagram as Repair Plan.

- Apart from the built-in RACI chart, you can configure your own type of chart, or modify an existing chart by clicking the ... button next to Code Type.

- Let's change the color of the roles in the RACI chart. We change Responsible to blue by clicking Responsible on the clicking the ... button next to Color cell, and select Blue from the pop-up menu.

-
Next, define the color for other roles as the table shown below:
| Name |

| Informed |

- Click OK button.
- Select a model element type for row and column respectively to identify which participant is involved in an activity. Select Lane for row and Task for column.

- Click OK button.
-
You can then assign the role for each participant by right clicking on the cell and select the role from the pop-up menu. Let's assign IT Support to be responsible for Analyze the problem. Right click on the cell and select R: Responsible from the pop-up menu.
Alternatively, you can then assign the role to participants by clicking Mark Code to Cell button on the top of chart.
When the roles reveal, click the role and select the target cell or even a few cells simultaneously to assignment. Let's assign IT Support to be informed for Repair product and Visit the customer, Accounting Department to be informed for Contact the customer for refund and Repairman to be informed for Arrange repair.
