Smart Development Environment Modeler Edition for Visual Studio (SDE-VS ME) fully supports the latest version of UML, SysML and ERD for analysts and developers to perform system design. SDE-VS ME can generate documentation in PDF and HTML format. SDE-VS is embedded in Visual Studio. Developer can perform design work and implementation in a single, unified environment.

Use Case modeling

SDE-VS ME provides various use case modeling toolsets for analyst to identify, document and manage users' goal. UML use case diagram can be used to visualize actors, use cases and their relationships. Use case details editor lets analyst to document use case description, flow of events, pre and post condition. Both use case diagram and use case details editor information are grouped when generating use case documentation.

System analysis and design

SDE-VS ME fully supports UML 2.2 specification. Use case can be elaborated by sequence diagram or activity diagram. Structural layer of the system can be designed and documented in class diagram, composite structure diagram and object diagram. Sequence diagram, communication diagram, state diagram and activity diagram are designed for behavioral modeling. System deployment architecture can be documented by component and deployment diagrams.

SDE-VS ME talks to VP Teamwork Server to provide a collaborative modeling platform. With team collaboration feature, team members can view and edit same project or even same diagram simultaneously. All changes will be stored in above VP Teamwork server in revision basis.

Plug-in architecture

SDE-VS ME plug-in architecture provides an extendable platform for developers to add functions to SDE-VS ME. Developers can reference to the plug-in development guide to build their own plug-in to read, update, retrieve and delete diagrams and model elements.

Interoperability

SDE-VS ME can import/export to XML, XMI and various image formats. SDE-VS can also import Rational Rose project file.
