Various Connector Styles
Connectors are the lines that connect two shapes. When more shapes are created and more connectors appear, you may find that is is difficult to handle the straight spaghetti-like connectors. To overcome this problem, VP-UML provides five connector styles to help you handle the connectors, namely Rectilinear, Oblique, Curve, Round Oblique and Round Rectilinear. In this tutorial, we will try to try out each of them on a class diagram.
- Download the project Sample-Class-Diagram.vpp attached with this tutorial.
- Open class diagram Class Diagram1.
- Here we have several connected classes. Right click on the background of class diagram and select Connectors from the popup menu. You can see that style Oblique is applied to be the style of connectors on the diagram. In fact, this is the default connector style for class diagram.

- Let's try other styles. Select Rectilinear from the same popup menu. The diagram should now become:

- Try to bend the connectors and observe the changes.

- Let's try another style. Try the Curve style. The diagram should now become:

- Try to bend the connectors and observe the changes. You can press on anywhere on a connector to create a turning point.

- Try also the Round Oblique style. The diagram should now become:

- Round oblique is a variation of Oblique style. It makes the turning points appear smoothly instead of sharp angle.

- Finally, try Round Rectilinear, which is a variation of Rectilinear style.
