Customize Visual Paradigm for UML by XML

Visual Paradigm for UML (VP-UML) allows users to hide some UI widgets by using XML. This tutorial is used to teach you how to remove some UI widgets by XML.

To customize VP-UML:
  1. Select Help > Customize UI...
    select customize UI
  2. The Customize UI dialog will be shown.

  3. The feature are grouped based on their nature and location. For example, features named as Toolbar/ORM/Reverse Database means this feature is under the ORM group in the Toolbar, and the Menu/Tools/Object-Relational Mapping (ORM)/Reverses Database means this feature is under the Tools > Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) menu.

  4. To disable specific diagram, you have to hide out the entry both under the Toolbar also the Menu.

  5. Select the feature which you want to hide away, and press the > button to move them to the Hide list.

  6. You can search for the features by entering keywords in the Filter text box.

  7. Once you finish specify which features you like to hide, press OK to commit. A dialog will be shown prompt you to restart the application. The customization will take effect after restart.

  8. An XML file vpuicustomization.xml will be created under the resources folder to store your customization setting. You can share this file to your colleagues to apply the customization.

  9. You can also reset your selection by pressing the Reset button.
