| Version Upgrades (Software Maintenance) |
|
All version upgrades of Visual Paradigm products are included as part of our software maintenance packages. Customers are entitled to all version upgrades released within their software maintenance period. Software maintenance is purchased on a yearly basis (e.g., January 20, 2006 through January 19, 2007) at an annual cost of 20% of the product list price, if purchased with a product or as an extension of a valid maintenance period. If the maintenance contract is purchased separately, the cost is 30% of the product list price. Maintenance contracts remain valid throughout the purchased maintenance period. Customers can purchase a product maintenance package of up to three years in duration.

| Edition Upgrades |
|
| If there is a valid maintenance contract (a contract still within the applicable software maintenance period), customers can upgrade the existing edition to get more features and functionalities from Visual Paradigm products by only paying the difference in price between the current edition and the target edition. Also, starting from the date of purchase, the upgraded product will be entitled to a 1-year version upgrade contract (e.g., 5.x to 6.x), free of charge (software maintenance). |

| License |

| Single-Seat License |
| Visual Paradigm's single-seat (team-member-based) license allows a licensee to install the software on a computer that belongs, and provides sole access, to the named user only. Since the license is team-member-based, the software must be used by the licensee only, without running more than one instance concurrently. The single-seat license only allows installation on a maximum of three computers. |

| Floating License |
| The floating license supports sharing of the pool of licenses among your team. Instead of purchasing a single-seat license for each team member, optimize your budget by purchasing floating licenses for the maximum number of simultaneous software users or access points. This approach allows greater flexibility in using our software. Users can then export the license files to a laptop to use the software offsite (to deliver a presentation, for example), and then import the license back to the server at a later time. |

| In order to work with the floating license, installation of a floating license server that stores the license key file(s) and also automatically manages access requests from clients is required. The client must enable the connection to the license server when requesting access to the software. |

| Community License |
| Community licenses are free for non-commercial use and have no time limitations. The Community Edition not only supports the latest UML notation, but also provides several advanced features such as textual analysis and CRC card support for requirements capturing, as well as entity relationship diagrams for physical data modeling. |
|
| Each project in the Community Edition only supports one diagram for each type. If more than one diagram with the same type is created (for example, if there are two class diagrams in a project), then a watermark is placed on the diagrams when printing or copying any diagram from that project. |
|
| Academic License |
| Academic licenses are available for higher education, with the aim of providing free site licenses for the teaching of software engineering. Educational institutions that join the Academic Partners Program are entitled to free licenses for the Standard Edition of Visual Paradigm's software, which can then be used solely for educational purposes. The academic license is not limited to use on campus, but can also be used at home by students and teachers. |
