Smart Development Environment (SDE) is an UML modeling plug-in seamlessly integrated with most of the leading IDEs in the market. This user's guide will explain in detail on how to use SDE to perform UML modeling also how to perform real-time on demand round-trip code engineering.
Part 1 -Working with Smart Development Environment
This part explains in detail how to use SDE to perform UML modeling and code-model round-trip engineering. Besides, documenting a UML project and working with teamwork project will also be mentioned.
Chapter 1 - Getting Started with SDE for Java
This chapter offers a detailed overview on how to work with SDE. Topics such as how to create UML project for an IDE project and how to unload SDE will be covered.
Chapter 2 - Working with Diagrams
This chapter shows you how to perform visual modeling in SDE such as drawing diagram elements (shapes and connectors), customizing connectors, editing the diagrams, exporting diagrams as images.
Chapter 3 - Style and Formatting
This chapter will show you how to change the style and format of diagram elements.
This chapter will show you the features of performing UML modeling such as creating multiple views for model, forming diagrams from models, creating and editing sub-diagrams, references and logical views, etc.
Chapter 5 - Automatic Diagrams Layout
This chapter offers insights and example of how UML diagrams can be laid out tidily with different kinds of configurable styles.
Chapter 6 - Generating Documentation
This chapter covers all aspects of documenting a UML project including HTML and PDF documentations generation, ad-hoc report creation with Report Writer and using the sophisticated printing facility.
This chapter guides you through the process of importing and exporting a VP project, an XML file or an XMI file. You can also learn how to export a VP project as an image and how to import a IBM Rational Rose Project.
Chapter 8 - User Interface Designer
This chapter will show you how SDE facilitate screen mock up in early requirement capturing stage.
This chapter guides you through the process of reverse engineering different kinds of sources or binary files (java source, java classes, C++ Source, JDBC, .NET binaries, Hibernate mapping files, CORBA IDL, Ada 9x) into SDE.
Chapter 10 - Instant Generator
This chapter guides you through the process of code generation on many types of language including Java, C#, VB.NET, etc
Chapter 11 - Java Round-Trip Engineering
This chapter will show you how SDE facilitate the generation and reverse of Java by the Java Round-Trip Engineering.
Chapter 12 - State Machine Diagram Code Generation
This chapter will show you how SDE facilitate the code generation and reverse engineering between State Machine Diagram and Code.
Chapter 13 - Team Collaboration with VP Teamwork Server
This chapter explains in detail with VP Teamwork Server about how to perform teamwork operations with SDE, including checking out and committing projects, conflict resolution also versioning your work.
Chapter 14 - Team Collaboration with CVS Repository
This chapter explains in detail with CVS Repository about how to perform teamwork operations with SDE, including checking out and committing projects, conflict resolution also versioning your work.
Chapter 15 - Team Collaboration with Subversion Repository
This chapter explains in detail with Subversion Repository about how to perform teamwork operations with SDE, including checking out and committing projects, conflict resolution also versioning your work.
Appendix A - Configuring Application Options
This chapter describes the configurable application options and how they can be configured.
Appendix B - Configuring Stereotypes and Tagged Value
This chapter explains in detail how to apply Stereotypes and Tagged Value to extend the standard UML elements for meeting your special requirements.
