Smart Development Environment (SDE) is an UML modeling plug-in seamlessly integrated with most of the leading IDEs in the market. This document will teach you how the ORM features in SDE helps you to perform database application development. Including data modeling, generate persistent classes for accessing and manipulate database also how to use the generated persistent classes.
Part 2 - Working with Object-Relational Mapping
This part introduces you on how to work with the ORM features of SDE so as to aid your database application development. You will know more about how to work out the object model, data model and database schema with SDE in the following chapters. Besides, using the SDE generated code for implementing a system and manipulating persistent data will also be mentioned.
Chapter 11 - Introduction to Object-Relational Mapping
This chapter gives you an introduction and key benefits of ORM features in SDE-EC.
Chapter 12 - Getting Started with Object-Relational Mapping
This chapter shows you how to configure the database connection and describes the supported database driver for connecting database to SDE environment.
SDE provides various ORM Wizard which assist you to perform different operations, such as generating persistent code and reversing database. In this chapter, we will walk through different wizards inside SDE and show you how to use it in your development.
This chapter shows you how to depict the object models by using a Class Diagram or an EJB diagram and describes how SDE maps the object model to the data model.
In this chapter, you will learn how to depict the object models by using Entity Relationship Diagram and how to reverse database, and describes how SDE maps the data model to the object model.
This chapter describe how to generate the database and data definition language and describes how the data model maps the data definition language.
This chapter shows you how to generate the persistent code and Enterprise JavaBean, and describes how the Object Model maps to ORM-Persistent Class.
Chapter 18 - Manipulating Persistent Data with Java
In this chapter, you will learn how to use the generated persistent Java code to manipulate the database. It also shows you how the data will be inserted, retrieved, updated and deleted. Thus, it will also shows you how to run the generated sample Java code.
Chapter 19 - Manipulating Persistent Data with .NET
In this chapter, you will learn how to use the generated persistent .NET code to manipulate the database. It also shows you how the data will be inserted, retrieved, updated and deleted. Thus, it will also shows you how to run the generated sample .NET code.
Appendix E - JDBC and .NET Drivers
This chapter lists the download link of the JDBC and .NET Drivers for database supported by SDE.
