Smart Development Environment (SDE) is an UML modeling plug-in seamlessly integrated with most of the leading IDEs in the market. This user's guide will explain in detail on how to use SDE to perform UML modeling also how to perform real-time on demand round-trip code engineering.

Part 1 -Working with Smart Development Environment  
This part explains in detail how to use SDE to perform UML modeling and code-model round-trip engineering. Besides, documenting a UML project and working with teamwork project will also be mentioned.
Chapter 1 - Getting Started with SDE for Java  
This chapter offers a detailed overview on how to work with SDE. Topics such as how to create UML project for an IDE project and how to unload SDE will be covered.
Chapter 2 - Working with Diagrams  
This chapter shows you how to perform visual modeling in SDE such as drawing diagram elements (shapes and connectors), customizing connectors, editing the diagrams, exporting diagrams as images.
Chapter 3 - Style and Formatting  
This chapter will show you how to change the style and format of diagram elements.
Chapter 4 - Visual Modeling  
This chapter will show you the features of performing UML modeling such as creating multiple views for model, forming diagrams from models, creating and editing sub-diagrams, references and logical views, etc.
Chapter 5 - Automatic Diagrams Layout  
This chapter offers insights and example of how UML diagrams can be laid out tidily with different kinds of configurable styles.
Chapter 6 - Generating Documentation  
This chapter covers all aspects of documenting a UML project including HTML and PDF documentations generation, ad-hoc report creation with Report Writer and using the sophisticated printing facility.
Chapter 7 - Export and Import  
This chapter guides you through the process of importing and exporting a VP project, an XML file or an XMI file. You can also learn how to export a VP project as an image and how to import a IBM Rational Rose Project.
