Import Rational Software Architect project file

In order to inherit the work from Rational Software Architect, Visual Paradigm Suite 3.3 supports importing Rational Software Architect file as well as performing further modeling on the imported file. This article introduces how to import the Rational Software Architect file in VP products.

Rational Software Architect (RSA) is a modeling and development environment, which leverages UML for architectural design for C++ and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (Java2EE) applications and web services. Import of the RSA file, i.e. the .emx file, is supported in VP products in VP Suite 3.3 so that you can simply migrate the work from RSA to VP, also perform further modeling on the imported models in the VP tool.

Below are the demonstrations of how to import a RSA file using Visual Paradigm for UML (VP-UML) as example:

Here is a sample (which is a Use Case Diagram) modeled in RSA, let's import this file into VP-UML:
1.	Select File > Import > Import Rational Model... on the menu bar.
2.	In the Import Rational Software Architect UML Model dialog box, specify the path of the RSA file (.emx) to be imported, then click OK to confirm.
3.	When it completes importing the RSA model, a message will show.
4.	Let's open the Use Case Diagram.
5.	We can perform further modeling (e.g. rename shape) on the models imported.
