Drawing Business Motivation Model (BMM) diagram

In this tutorial, we will make use of BMM to study the feasibility of publishing and distributing free daily newspaper in the city.

1. Start Agilian.
2. Create a Business Motivation Model diagram by clicking on Enterprise in toolbar and selecting Business Motivation Model Diagram from the drop down menu.
   
3. Name the diagram Free daily newspaper publishing.
   
4. Create a Means first. Select Means in diagram toolbar.
   
5. Press on the diagram. Drag towards bottom right to form a rectangle.
   
6. Release the mouse button to create the Means shape.
   
7. Similarly, create End next to Means.
   
8. A Mission indicates the ongoing operational activity of the enterprise. Create a Mission inside Means. Select Mission in diagram toolbar and click inside Means.
   
9. Release the mouse button and enter the mission: Deliver the free newspaper publisher in the city.
   
10. Create a Tactic inside Means. Enter the tactic: Deliver newspaper to coffee shops and restaurants.
    
11. Tactics generally channel efforts towards Objectives. Move the mouse pointer over the created Tactics shape. Press on the resource icon Channel Efforts -> Objective and drag it out.
    
12. Release the mouse button inside End to create the Objective shape. Enter the objective: Over 14 million readers daily by the end of October.
    
13. An Objective quantifies a Goal to provide the basis for measures to determine whether the Goal is being achieved. Move the mouse pointer over the Objective shape. Press on the resource Quantity -> Goal and drag it out.
    
14. Release the mouse button and enter the goal: Have not less than 60% of market share.
    
15. A Goal amplifies a Vision to indicate what must be satisfied on a continuing basis to effectively attain the Vision. Move the mouse pointer over the Goal shape. Press on the resource Amplify -> Vision and drag it out.
    
16. Release the mouse button and enter the vision: Be the most profitable publisher in the city.
    
17. Create Assessment and enter: Economic recession cause a decline in advertisement bids.
    
18. SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) is a frequently-used set of categories for Assessment. This Assessment is a threat, that is, it can have an unfavorable impact on the organization's employment of Means or achievement of Ends. To set the category of Assessment, right click on the Assessment and select Open Specification... from the popup menu.
    
19. Select Threat for Category in the specification window. Click OK to return to diagram.
    
20. Assessment identifies Potential Impact (Risk/Potential Impact). Move the mouse pointer over Assessment. Press on the resource Identify -> Risk and drag it out.
    
21. Release the mouse button and enter the risk: Loss of an estimated 30% income. This is the end result:
