Team Collaboration

Design application collaboratively with VP Teamwork Server, Subversion, Perforce, ClearCase and CVS.
Work as a team, simultaneously

Let your software development team work together smoothly and efficiently. Combining with the use of Visual Paradigm Teamwork Server (Teamwork Server), your entire team can design software collaboratively and concurrently. Teamwork Server is a central repository with version control capabilities that allows development team to checkout, commit and update design projects. Keep drawing and committing diagrams, your teammates will get them instantly. And thanks to the sophisticated merging and conflict resolution capabilities, everyone can work concurrently without being locked by anyone else. With Teamwork Server, you save a great deal of time in lining up your team because it has done everything essential yet daunting for you.

Versioning your software design

When you are committing your work, Teamwork Server helps to create a version (formally known as a revision) in background. This let you review, or even roll back to a previous version whenever necessary. Comparison can also be made between versions so that you can tell the major differences between two versions of software, through studying the differences between their design blueprints.
Interactive conflict resolution

A conflict arises when two people attempt to make changes to the same part of a project (e.g. give different names on the same use case). Conflicts are inevitable in any kind of software development project. But with reliable conflict resolution support, you can save a lot of time in finding and resolving conflicts. The conflict resolution feature of VP-UML involves a sophisticated conflict detection function, an interactive interface that guides you the way to resolve conflicts, and the ability to resolve conflicts by considering both the conflicts and their related parts.
Social networking with PostMania
-
Supported multiple shape and connector selection when posting a topic in PostMania
Raise discussions around multiple shapes in your design. Simply make a multiple shape selection in PostMania and post your message. Both the web client and VP-UML are supported.

Chat with the analysts, designers, software developers or whoever in your team directly inside VP-UML, right in a diagram. PostMania, a private social networking platform designed for software development teams, facilitates easy discussion of software designs. It enables team members to post and reply discussions to a diagram or a shape. Just make a post to ask for change, and moments later you receive a reply from your teammate, saying "Done" and with a smiley face. PostMania simply breaks communication barrier and improves the bonding of development team.
Supplementary documents stored

You may want to include the implementation guidelines to class models, or to include the functional specification to use case models, etc. You can associate any kind of external documents with diagrams, shapes or even model elements. And with the use of the Corporate Edition of Teamwork Server, both your design along with supplementary files can be stored and maintained in the central repository, ready for sharing with your teammates. They can open supplementary documents directly from a design, without any extra effort.
Branching and tagging

Incorporate innovative ideas into your design while keeping the original one intact. The idea of branching is to create a copy of the original design project, which enables you to make any kind of change without affecting the original copy. Branching is best for you to explore new ideas for new releases. By working on an isolated branch, you can make any kind of changes, i.e. restructure class model, modify use case specification, refine the program flow as represented in interaction diagrams, etc. And when the design is mature enough, just merge the changes back to the original design. Simple and safe.
Primitive version control system supported
Although Visual Paradigm Teamwork Server comes with so many value-added features, we know that some users still prefer using primitive version control systems. So in addition to Teamwork Server, we support version control with Subversion (SVN), Perforce, ClearCase and CVS. Although some of the advanced features are available only for Teamwork Server users, you can still perform all the fundamental operations like checkout, commit, update, branching and tagging with those primitive version control systems.

Compare diagrams with an old revision
The "Visual History" feature shows any backup copies of your great design. It allows you to see the evolvement of a diagram and revert it to an earlier revision if necessary. By comparing the latest design with an earlier revision, you can easily tell at glance what was added to, removed from and/or updated in a design.
* This feature is only available in VPository/Coporate Edition of Teamwork Server
* Can only trace back to revisions committed with version 10.0 (or any higher version)

Compare model properties with an old revision
Further to comparing diagram revisions, you can also compare model properties such as name, documentation, etc. Clear symbols are used to indicate the various kind of changes, which helps you find out easily an old name of an element, or to study an earlier version of its specification.
* This feature is only available in VPository/Coporate Edition of Teamwork Server
* Can only trace back to revisions committed with version 10.0 (or any higher version)

Get specific change from specific revision
When you found an earlier revision of your design better than the latest one, or when mistake was made and require correction, you can take advantage of the 'restore revision' function to rollback your work to the state it was before. To restore changes is straightforward. Whenever you have performed a comparison between revisions of diagrams, models or whatsoever, you can always find a restore button nearby for you to grab the change you want, instantly.
* This feature is only available in VPository/Coporate Edition of Teamwork Server
* Can only trace back to revisions committed with version 10.0 (or any higher version)
