VP Suite support NetBeans 5.5

NetBeans / Sun™ ONE is one of popular IDEs in the industry. By using Visual Paradigm Smart Development Environment (SDE), you can connect the system design (UML diagrams) to the implementation (Java source code).

Installing SDE for NetBeans

The VP Suite installer provides a step-by-step graphical user interface for installing SDE-NB (or DBVA-NB) onto your system. Also, it allows you to create shortcuts on Start Menu for quick launching of an IDE together with SDE-NB.
Before installing the SDE-NB, please make sure your machine has the NetBeans 5.5 installed.
To install SDE-NB from VP Suite:
1. Double-click the VP Suite installer program file on your computer to activate the VP Suite Setup Wizard.
2. Click Next >, the License Agreement page shows.
Read the License Agreement carefully. Make sure you accept the terms before continuing with the installation. If you accept the agreement, select I accept the agreement.
3. Click Next >, The Select Destination Directory page shows.
4. Click Next >, Confirm the installation destination and click Next >. The Select Start Menu Folder page shows.
Locate the Start Menu folder in which you the setup program to create the program's shortcuts by either entering a name for the new folder or selecting an existing one from the list.
Check/Uncheck Create shortcuts for all users to determine whether or not to create shortcuts for all user accounts in the machine.
5. Click Next >, the Select File Associations page shows.
Check/Uncheck Visual Paradigm Product (*.vpp) to determine whether or not to associate the file extension *.vpp with Visual Paradigm, which enables you to directly open a .vpp project by double-clicking on it.
6. Click Next >, the Select Products page shows. For installing SDE-NB, select the SDE for NetBeans/Sun ONE (SDE-NB).
7. Click Next >, the Products Configuration page shows.
SDE-NB features vary by product edition. For more details on the features supported by different editions, click the hyperlink Edition Comparison which brings you to the web page of SDE feature comparison of the selected product. To set the product edition, click on the Edition drop-down menu and select the desired one from the menu.
SDE-NB requires entering the home directory of the NetBeans. To install SDE-NB in an existing NetBeans 5.5, select Install in existing NetBeans/Sun ONE.
Remark: The Download NetBeans from Internet supports downloading NetBeans 5.0 only
NetBeans 5.5 Directory should contain the following folders: ide7, platform6. If these folders are not exists, the NetBeans directory may be considered as an Invalid NetBeans Directory, and will be rejected by VP Suite.

8. Click Next >, the Products License page shows.
9. Click Next >, the Installing page shows and the wizard is now copying the necessary files to your machine.
10. The Start Installed Product page shows, select SDE 3.3 for NetBeans/Sun ONE and click Next >, the NetBeans with SDE-NB will be started.
11. Click Finish to close the installer after the installation is completed.

Running SDE for NetBeans 5.5

After the installation of SDE-NB, there are 3 ways to launch SDE-NB
1. Start Menu (Windows only)
Click the SDE 3.3 for NetBeans and Sun ONE Enterprise Edition in the Start Menu. NetBeans will be started and SDE-NB will be started automatically.
2. Launcher in VP Suite Installation Directory
In the directory %VP_SUITE%/launcher/, there are a list of launchers. Run the run_sdenb.exe, NetBeans will be started and SDE-NB will be started automatically.
3. NetBeans launcher
Run the NetBeans by running its launcher(s), the launchers are placed in %NETBEANS%/bin/, such as netbeans.exe, nb.exe (for Windows). After NetBeans is started, select or create a Java Project in NetBeans. Right-Click on the Project Node and select Tools > SDE EE-NB > Open SDE EE-NB to start SDE-NB.
