| Starting from VP Suite 2.3 Service Pack 2, you can create a new diagram and enter its name and documentation at the same time. Below are three approaches to show the New Diagram dialog box where you can select the diagram to be created and specify the documentation. |

Select File > New Diagram... from the main menu. |

Right-click on the project root node in the Diagram Navigator and select New Diagram... from the pop-up menu. |

| Note: If you took the third way to create the diagram, the chosen diagram type is selected by default. |

Select the category that the type of diagram that you want to create is belonging to. |

Click on the image of the diagram type that you want to create. |

Enter the diagram name. |

Enter the diagram documentation. You can define formatting for the documentation. |

| Creating a Model |
|
| 1. |
From the Model tree or Class Repository, select the parent for creating a model. A parent can either be the project root node or any model node. |
|

Right-click on the parent 'object' and select New Model > New model... from the pop-up menu. |

This shows the New Model dialog box. |
|
 |
|
| 3. |
Click on the Model type drop-down menu and select the type of model that you want to create. |
|
 |
|
| 4. |
Enter the model name. |
|
| 5. |
Enter the model documentation. You can define formatting for the documentation. |

If you want the specification dialog box of the newly created model to appear, keep the option Open specification after create checked, un-check it otherwise. |

Click OK to create the model. You will see the newly created model is created under the parent object. |

|
Preferred and Recently created model |
|
When you right-click on a model and select New Model from the pop-up menu, you may see the Preferred Child and the Recent Child sections. |

|
|
• Preferred Child |
|
Model types that are commonly used as the model type of child model of the selected model. For example, the preferred child for a System is a Use Case. |
|
|
• Recent Child |
|
Model types that have ever been used are stored as history, which allows you create a new shape of the same type with minimized effort. |
|
| Context sensitive pop-up menu |
| With the enhanced Model Tree and Class Repository, many model-based operations can be performed within the tree without opening the diagrams that contain models. Here are two examples. |

Working Use Case Scheduling for a Use Case Right-click on a Use Case model and select Use Case Scheduling... from the pop-up menu. |

Adding Classifier for an Instance Specification Right-click on an Instance Specification model and select Add Classifier > Select Classifier... from the pop-up menu. |

|
| Press 'Enter' to open model specification |
|
| The Enter shortcut key is available for opening the specification dialog of the selected model. |
