In Visual Paradigm Suite 3.3, Business Process Diagram is enhanced to allow setting states for the Data Object models, which facilitates business work flow modeling. This article introduces this new enhancement for Data Object.

Business Process Diagram (BPD) is widely used for analyzing, designing business process, and it always contains Data Objects in different states. In VP Suite 3.3, we support denoting states for the data objects to show the change of their states.

Below we will use Business Process Visual ARCHITECT (BP-VA) to show you how to set state for the Data Object models.

Setting State for Data Object

Here we have a task shape on a BPD, now we are going to assign a state for the data object.
1. Create a Data Object, we are going to create one by the resource icon.
2. Enter the name of the data object.
3. Right-click the data object and select State > Create... in the popup menu to create new state.
4. In the Create State dialog box, enter the state in Name field and then click OK to confirm.
5. The state is shown below the name of the data object shape.

Reference to existing Data Object

If there are data objects with state set on a diagram, when you create new data object shape, it can reference to an existing data object. Below is a sample BPD that contains several stated data objects, let's see how to reference to them.
1. Create a data object and enter a name as same as that of one of the data objects.
2. A prompt message shows and asks if you want the data object reference to existing data objects. Select Yes to confirm.
3. It's referenced to existing data objects and you can see the states of existing data objects, so that you can easily select a state for the data object.
