Showing ID labels in BPD

Evey element in BPD has its own ID which is unique within the project. With the latest version of Business Process Visual ARCHITECT (BP-VA), you can not only choose to show or unshow shapes' ID, but also customize the position and the direction of ID label for a better flexibility. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate how to show ID below caption and how to show ID as label in BP-VA.

  1. Download The Post Office.vpp from this tutorial in advance.
  2. Open the project with BP-VA.

  3. If you want the ID of all shapes are revealed on diagram, right click on the diagram's background and select Presentation Options > Configure Show ID Options... from the pop-up menu.

  4. In the Configure Show ID Options dialog box, select Show Below Caption from the drop-down menu of Show ID option. Click OK button.

  5. Subsequently, you will see the shapes on the diagram with ID as shown below:

  6. Let's change to show the ID as label. Re-open Configure Show ID Options dialog box. In the Configure Show ID Options dialog box, select Show as Label from the drop-down menu of Show ID option.

  7. Click Apply button to preview the effect.

  8. If you think the position and the direction of ID of some labels are not appropriate, you can change the position and rotation. For example, set the position of gateway to be right-bottom and click OK button.

  9. Change the rotation of pool to be counter-clockwise.

    Click OK button in the Configure Show ID Options dialog box.
  10. The result is displayed soon on the diagram as shown below:
