Organize Glossary Terms with Label
The glossary allows you to standardize the meaning of wordings in your project. However, in some cases, you might find that they are a bit difficult to manage, for example, a user is new to the project may have no idea on where the term is from. In Visual Paradigm for UML 8.0 (VP-UML), you can categorize the terms by defining and assigning label to them. This tutorial will teach you how to categorize the terms by using labels.
- Download Online TV.vpp from this tutorial in advance.
- Open the project with VP-UML.
-
In the Textual Analysis1, select a term to add it to glossary. In this tutorial, highlight general with the mouse, right click on it and select Add "general" to Glossary from the pop-up menu.
Continue to add live, premium and archived to glossary.
- When the glossary grid is opened, click Manage Label button. In the pop-up Manage Label dialog box, click Add... button to create a label.

-
In the Glossary Label Specification dialog box, name the label as Program and it as Pink. Click OK button to confirm.
Create another label. Name it as Membership and set it as Green.
- Next, click OK button in the Manage Label dialog box.
-
Let's assign Membership label to general. Click the small plus button under Labels. In the pop-up Add Label dialog box, check Membership and then click OK button.
Continue to assign Membership to premium and Program to live and archived respectively. Note that you are allowed to apply multiple labels to a term. Check the applicable labels in the Add Label dialog box.
- As a result, all labels are assigned to terms as shown below:

- If you want to find a particular term, you can filter with label. Click the combo box of Project and select Scope. In the With label dialog box, check Membership and then click OK button.

- As you can see, terms with Membership are only shown on the glossary grid.
